The flipping of the calendar from 2022 to 2023 also signals the start of tax season for residents across our region. This time of year often brings unwanted stress and anxiety over new tax reporting requirements, changes to tax laws and a variety of other factors.

Below is a quick list of some tips and reminders to assist Clayton’s residents filing city income tax returns in 2023.

To reduce the cost of services and improve accessibility to residents, Clayton has entered into a contract with CCA-Division of Taxation (Central Collection Agency) to collect municipal income taxes. CCA allows for easier access for residents and businesses. CCA offers online filing and payment of tax bills. Residents can visit CCA’s website at http://ccatax.ci. cleveland.oh.us/.

CCA will have a representative at the Clayton Government Center to assist Clayton residents with their 2022 Clayton city taxes. Assistance will be by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling Eric Hein at 216-857-3174. Appointments can be made only at the Clayton Government Center on the following dates and times:

■ Friday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

■ Wednesday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

■ Monday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

■ Wednesday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

City income tax assistance is also available by submitting the Taxpayer Assistance Form and necessary documents and dropping it off in CCA’s drop box located by the main doors of the Clayton Government Center.

To learn more, go to www. clayton.oh.us, hover over “city services,” and under “financial services,” select “income tax.

A quick reminder if you now permanently work from home instead of your employer’s office headquarters, it’s now required per state law to change your local tax withholdings to Clayton. This simple change may lead to a decrease in your total city taxes paid.

If you have any questions regarding any local income tax requirements, contact Michelle Jordan with CCA at 216-857-7382 or Eric Hein at 216-857-3174. Residents can also call CCA-Division of Taxation at 216-664-2070 or toll free at 800-223-6317.

The city of Clayton can also be reached at 937-836-3500 or residents can email Clayton Finance Director Kevin Schweitzer at Kschweitzer@clayton.oh.us.
