Movie: Pulp Fiction, 8 PM on BBCA; 1 AM on BBCA: Director Quentin Tarantino’s violent, muchpraised drama was one of the most controversial movies of 1994. It boasts first-rate performances by John Travolta — whose career was resuscitated by the movie — and Samuel L. Jackson as hired killers who often debate life’s larger issues. A parallel plot involves Bruce Willis as a corrupt boxer in trouble. Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer co-star. Tarantino and colleague Roger Avary earned an Academy Award for their original screenplay.

Movie: West Side Story, 8 PM on TCM: One of the great movie musicals, this Oscar-winning 1961 version of the stage hit — an update of “Romeo and Juliet” — casts Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer as young lovers Maria and Tony. Their romance intensifies the rivalry between two New York street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Co-stars Rita Moreno and George Chakiris earned supporting Oscars for their roles. The film airs as part of the channel’s continuing “Star of the Month” tribute to Moreno.

Animal Control, 9:01 PM on Ch. 19: Frank (Joel McHale) is an opinionated, eccentric animal control officer who is the most well-read person in the room. A former cop, he tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. Luckily, he gets assigned a new partner, Fred “Shred” Taylor (Michael Rowland), an optimistic rookie. And they both report to their sweetnatured and endearingly awkward boss Emily Price (Vella Lovell) in this new sitcom.
