VANDALIA (Feb. 9) — Police were called to the area of Dixie Drive and Elva Court on a report of an intoxicate­d man. The man allegedly was in the library with a “large” open can of beer and causing issues before moving on to a nearby business. Police said the man was not cooperativ­e in providing informatio­n and smelled heavily of an alcoholic beverage. He allegedly continued to curse and be uncooperat­ive as students from the high school walked past. He was charged with disorderly conduct and intoxicati­on and released to a family member.

VANDALIA (Feb. 10) — An employee of Beau Townsend Ford Lincoln told police that a rental vehicle had been stolen. A business employee said a vehicle was loaned to a customer while their vehicle was being serviced. The owner was contacted Jan. 24 that the vehicle was ready but has not picked up that vehicle nor returned the rental. Police were asked to help recover the rental. The report stated that the vehicle was located, and steps were being taken to recover it for the dealership.

WASHINGTON TWP., Miami County (Feb. 17) — A sheriff ’s deputy reported he received a fraud complaint by a township woman who said she sent approximat­ely $42,000 to two people who claimed to be out of Minnesota.

PIQUA (Feb. 13) — Miami County sheriff’s deputies were sent to a complaint of a rolling domestic incident leaving the city on South Main Street. The vehicle was located, and the dispute was found to be verbal. While investigat­ing, deputies said they found suspected cocaine, meth and Xanax bars. The case was listed as pending the outcome of lab tests.

COVINGTON — A sheriff ’s deputy responded to a complaint of a county resident who said they paid $850 for a puppy on Facebook, then was sent several different addresses to visit to pick up the dog before the “seller” blocked the buyer from communicat­ion. The investigat­ion is pending.
