Northridge hoops coach receives state award for sportsmanship, integrity
Each year, the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association has the opportunity to recognize and honor a boys and girls coach with the OHSAA Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Award. The recipients are selected by a committee that is made up of boys and girls basketball coaches across the state. Individuals selected reflect the values of sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity in all their professional responsibilities.
The Northridge schools family is proud to announce that the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association has chosen Northridge High School varsity basketball coach Jeff Lisath as the boys coach recipient. He will be honored at the 2023 OHSAA state basketball tournament.
Lisath has spent about a quarter-century as a head coach. He coached three years at Unioto High School, three years at Chillicothe High School and nine years at Piketon High School before he started coaching at Northridge. He just completed his ninth year as varsity boys basketball coach at Northridge. He has a career record of 358-229.
This season, the Northridge varsity boys basketball team finished 14-8 under Coach Lisath. The program won 7 of its last 11 games. Lisath coached players who were voted to All-Conference teams this season.
“Coach Jeff Lisath has transformed our basketball program by investing in, and caring deeply for, each and every student athlete,” stated Dave Jackson, superintendent. “Coach holds extremely high expectations for attitude, behavior, sportsmanship and effort; and he develops the caring, difference-making, positive relationships that allow our players to meet and even exceed those lofty expectations. Our culture and climate have been changed, not only on the basketball court, but in the classroom and community, because of Coach Lisath’s commitment to sportsmanship, ethical behavior and integrity! He is a true role model and leader, and others follow him eagerly and enthusiastically. Coach is a real difference maker within our Northridge Family, and he is so deserving of the OHSAA/ OHSBCA SEI Award!”
Lisath brings that same commitment to all that he does.
He currently serves as the director of operations at Northridge Local Schools. He is an author and shares his message of faith through all of his endeavors.
