Q. Tell us about your education:

A. Bachelor of Science in education from Miami University. Master of Science in social and applied economics from Wright State University.

Q. Tell us about your family:

A. My wife, Sarah LamoureuxBlevins, and I have three children — Shelby Lucas (17), Brady Lucas (14), and Adalyn Blevins (13).

Q. Tell us about your past work experience:

A. I was a classroom teacher for eight years. Seven of those eight years were at Mason Middle School, teaching science. From there I moved into a role within Mason’s Treasurer Department as the district’s benefits coordinator, which is where I was employed prior to accepting the position here in Miamisburg.

Q. You were hired in early February for this job in Miamisburg. What has been the biggest challenge?

A. The biggest challenge was saying goodbye to the people I had built relationships with at Mason over the past seven years. During my time there I was a teacher, a coach and an administrator, which allowed me to become deeply involved in the community and create some lasting friendships. I hope to become embedded into the Miamisburg community and grow my friendships with the great people I’ve met here.

Q. What made you want to become a school treasurer?

A. I believe my life should be about service, and for years I served in the capacity of a teacher. While doing so, I became interested in how schools operate and was drawn to the financial aspect of how they are run. Having had the good fortune of befriending a few school treasurers from around the area, I realized that I could pursue my interests while continuing to serve.

Q. What was your path that led you to Miamisburg?

A. I grew up down the road from the district in the city of Franklin. I have spent a lot of time in Miamisburg over the years and really grew to enjoy and appreciate the community. When the position became available, I saw an opportunity to become a part of the community and use the position to be a productive member, making the school district and the city a better place.

Q. What is your favorite thing about your job?

A. So far my favorite thing about the job is the people I work with. Miamisburg is a great community being served by some amazing people who have welcomed me in and treated me like family.

Q. What are your hobbies away from the job?

A. I enjoy outdoor activities and spending time with my family, attending my kids’ extracurricular events.
