A restaurant in Dayton’s Fire Blocks District is giving back to an area organization that supports and offers resources to survivors of domestic violence next month.

Jollity, 127 E. Third St., will host a charity dinner at 5:30 p.m. April 2, with 50 percent of proceeds to benefit the Artemis Center.

“We decided this year that we wanted to focus on being a little more active in the community and being a little more active in charities in general,” said Jollity chef and co-owner Zackary Weiner.

The restaurant is offering a five-course dinner with a beer, wine, spirit or non-alcohol pairing for $175. Guests will have an option to upgrade their ticket for $100 to get into the restaurant an hour early for an open bar and small bites. One hundred percent of those proceeds will go to the Artemis Center, Weiner said.

He said the owners chose the Artemis Center as their first beneficiary because it was an organization that is important to Jollity’s general manager, Kara Yankus.

“We didn’t want to pick charities for the sake of picking charities,” Weiner said.

“We wanted to pick things that affected our lives in some capacity.”

Jollity is planning to host a charity dinner once a quarter, Weiner said. He explained that when they choose the next beneficiary they will take into account the importance of the organization to their team and the proximity of the organization to the restaurant.

“Any money we raise we want it to also help stabilize our block,” Weiner said.

He said he feels fortunate to have customers come to their restaurant every day and want to “pay it forward.” “There’s been such support for our restaurant over the course of the last almost two years, at this point that we felt like we should be doing something for the community,” Weiner said. “We’re fortunate that we’re supported every single day, so it was important to us to support the community in some degree.”

The five-course dinner is limited to 40 guests. Tickets are still available at www.exploretock.com/jollity.
