Wayne High juniors set to dream big about college
For the first time at Wayne High School, a group of 10 juniors have been selected to join the Aileron Student Leadership Summit this summer. The opportunity comes through a partnership with other local school districts and is paid for by a grant.
The Summit will provide these rising seniors with a unique opportunity to dream big when applying to college. They will be asked where they would like to attend college if resources were not holding them back. Then, they will be given tools to fully understand how to make that dream a reality.
“This is a chance for them to apply to that elite college they didn’t think they could get into for a variety of reasons,” said Wayne Principal Brent Carey.
The guidance these students will receive will include personal reflection activities, personalized leadership training, dedicated time to speak with the industry professionals who are directly connected to their areas of interest, and individualized guidance on how to apply for financial aid and scholarships.
Everything students need to know to apply to a prestigious school or a college anywhere in the U.S. of their choice is offered, even time to Google-meet with the admissions representatives from those colleges/universities and instruction on how to improve their college essay-writing skills. All of this guidance is offered during a three-day conference this summer, May 30 to June 1, at the Aileron training facility in Tipp City.
At Wayne High School, all juniors were given an opportunity to apply for the Aileron Student Leadership Summit, and 10 were selected through an application process.
“This is a unique opportunity for our students. We can’t wait to see what they will do with this incredible leadership experience,” Carey said.
Congratulations to these Aileron Student Leadership Summit participants and Wayne High juniors: Geno Moore, Evan Sullenberger, Malique Rackley, Gabi Bailey, Kendal Mason, Aubrey Mullins, Valery Cooper, Jacob Gonzales, Joseph Conti, and Enna Eastman.
