$525K in contracts approved for block grant funding
Seven Montgomery County cities, one village and one township will be moving forward with significant projects to improve their communities, as the Board of County Commissioners has approved contracts for the execution of their block grants.
These are the first approved contracts from a list of 17 projects that the Ohio Community Development Advisory Committee recommended from Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications back in November. Additional contracts from those recommendations are expected to be approved by the Commission in the coming weeks.
The CDBG program’s main objective is to develop viable urban communities by providing housing and a suitable living environment, while expanding economic opportunities - principally for people of low and moderate income. The 17 CDBG projects recommended by the Advisory Committee will receive $924,887 in total funding once their contracts are approved.
The first approved contracts support these projects: City of Brookville – Golden Gate Park Inclusive Playground - $75,000; Cit of Trotwood – MacMillian Water Main Replacement - $75,000; Jefferson Township – Richardson Park Rehabilitation & Revitalization $75,000; Village of Verona – Main Street Reconstruction, Phase IV - $70,000; City of Huber Heights – Handicap Ramp/Crosswalk Improvements - $60,000; City of Miamisburg – Owner-Occupied Home Rehabilitation Program, Phase IV - $50,000; City of Englewood – Englewood Spot Blight Removal $50,000; City of New Lebanon – Moving New Lebanon Forward 2023 - $50,000; City of Riverside – Rohrer Park Playground Improvements - $10,213; and City of Riverside – Community Park Playground Improvements - $9,674.
