Construction, literacy, arts and sports among highlights

-

Wow ... there are only three months left in the 2023-2024 school year. It has been a great year, full of stories of student accomplishments and team success. For this update, I am excited to share some exciting news about Valley View Schools.

Construction continues with our new K-12 building. As you drive by the construction site, you can see that the building is within months of completion. Our students and staff are excited to move into the new building in November 2024. Our current facilities have treated us well for many years. This new beginning will allow for increased technology education, more efficient operations, and the students’ educational experiences will be greatly improved. Please visit the Valley View Local Schools website for updated pictures of this project.

As a school district centered on strong academic performance for all students, we recognize that literacy is the backbone of academic success and lifelong learning. We are committed to providing high-quality literacy instruction to all students. To help with that, we’re implementing a revised Structured Literacy Program. Please visit the “Curriculum and Instruction” department page on the Valley View Local Schools website for information focused on learning, and click through to the “District Literacy Program” page to view the Structured Literacy Program and supplemental resources. I am sure that you will be excited about the positive direction designed for our students.

It was an honor to attend our high school musical, “Mary Poppins” in late February. Our students showcased their talents while entertaining the hundreds of attendees at the three performances. The Valley View performing arts and music programs have never been better. Our instructors prepare our students for success while mentoring them to become competent in their chosen skill.

The Valley View Spartan athletic program had a great winter season. We congratulate those varsity swimmers who qualified for the state finals. We are also proud of our boys and girls basketball teams, bowling team, and wrestling team. These students gave their best at every game or match while demonstrating incredible sportsmanship at all times.

As superintendent, I am honored to serve the entire community of Valley View Local Schools. The final three months of this school year will be filled with more student success and accomplishment.

Go Spartans!
