Student representatives appointed to serve on Board of Education

-

In conjunction with the district’s strategic plan of increased inclusivity and student ownership, the Miamisburg City School District proudly announces the selection of four student representatives to its Board of Education. The appointment was effective January 1, 2024, through each member’s graduation.

With a commitment to promoting student leadership and participation, Miamisburg City Schools has selected four exceptional students to serve: Andrew Prince (sophomore), Sofia Stoker (sophomore), Madison McGohan ( junior) and Esosa Ogbebor ( junior).

These students, who applied and were selected through the application process by the Board, will attend monthly board meetings at the Miamisburg Board of Education and actively contribute to important discussions that shape the educational landscape within the district. Moreover, they will serve as liaisons to the students of Miamisburg High School and ensure the student body has a voice among school administrators.

“My goals for being a Board of Education Student Representative is to bring students’ perspectives, issues and insights into the meetings and find ways to overcome whatever problems lie in the way of an everyday student,” said sophomore Andrew Prince.

Including student representatives on the Board of Education reflects the district’s dedication to transparency and underscores the importance of amplifying student perspectives in matters that directly impact their education and well-being.

“We believe that our students are valuable stakeholders in our educational community, and their voices deserve to be heard,” said Superintendent Dr. Laura Blessing. “By electing student representatives to our Board of Education, we are affirming our commitment to student empowerment and ensuring that their insights inform our decision-making process.”

The selection of student representatives to the Board of Education aligns with Miamisburg City Schools’ ongoing efforts to promote student agency, foster leadership skills, and cultivate a culture of collaboration across the district.
