Berne council submits budget to state

-

STAFF REPORT— Berne clerk treasurer Gwen Maller told the Berne City Council Monday evening that the city’s annual financial report had been officially submitted to the state of Indiana offices in Indianapolis. The report is now available for public viewing on the city’s website.

Along with the typical business of the bi-monthly meeting, Maller also informed the council that the report now requires a listing of accumulated depreciation for the city’s assets for the first time.

Berne Mayor Gregg Sprunger reported that this Saturday is National Employee Appreciation Day.

The mayor praised the quality of work turned in by the city’s employees.

“They play a vital role in the services provided by the city,” said Sprunger. “On a dayin and day-out basis they do a good job on their individual assignments and do it well.”

City councilman Ron Dull thanked Sprunger and the city for placing orange cones on the handicap ramps throughout the downtown area which have been damaged by the winter weather. The damaged ramps’ rubberized coverings have come loose from the concrete to cause a tripping hazard.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is expected to repair the ramps later this Spring.

The next meeting of the Berne Council is slated for March 14.
