86, of Berne,

Indiana passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.

She was born on May 31, 1935, in Berne, Indiana to the late Amos Habegger and Sarah ( Mazelin) Habegger. Arlene was united in marriage to James Mast on June 5, 1955, in Berne, Indiana and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2010.

She was a member of Berne Evangelica­l Church in Berne where she served on the Church board as a secretary. Arlene and her husband James served as Youth Sponsors for several years. In the 1970’s she helped organize the Berne Mother’s Club.

She graduated from Adams Central High School Class of 1952. She worked for Biberstein Law Office in Berne as an Administra­tive Assistant for 35 years before retiring in 2012.

Arlene loved to do ceramics, cook and entertain her family along with friends.

She is survived by a son, Alan Mast of St. Augustine, Florida; a daughter, Annette (Myron) Schwartz of Bluffton, Indiana; brother, Merlin (Jane) Habegger of Niceville, Florida; sister, Marie Strahm of Elkhart, Indiana; sister-in-law, Nancy Habegger of Longmont, Colorado; and five grandchild­ren, Trevor Mast, Morgan (Dustin) Warren, Aaron Mast, Sarah Schwartz, and Rebecah Schwartz.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Millard Habegger; and a brother-in-law, Virgil Strahm.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager- Kirchhofer Chapel, Berne with Pastor Jim Schwartz officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Berne Evangelica­l Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received from 12 noon - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, YagerKirch­hofer Chapel, Berne and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Hope Clinic. Arrangemen­ts are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel, Berne.
