Dem candidate Snyder supports eliminating student loan debts
PRESS RELEASE-- Third District Democratic Congressional candidate Gary Snyder issued remarks this week backing President Joe Biden’s announcement that he is taking a "hard look' at student loan debt forgiveness.
“I support student loan debt forgiveness for hard working middle class families. Jim Banks makes $177,000 of tax payer dollars a year, lives in a $1,000,000 Virginia house, voted to give the wealthiest Americans and LARGE CORPORATIONS a $2.5 trillion tax cut, and voted to FORGIVE PPP business loans, but opposes giving hard working families a tax cut in the form of student loan debt forgiveness.
“Student loans are borderline predatory. Saddle middle class and poor families with tens of thousands of dollars in student debt or don't go to college. Most middle class families are forced to take these loans or their children do not get an education. Let's end this NOW!”
Snyder became a single father of his three little girls (ages 3 months, 2-years old and 5-years old) at the age of 25. Two years later he met his wife Pepper and they have now been married for 26 years. They are the proud parents of seven children and six grandchildren. Continuing their commitment to make a difference, the Snyders have also served as foster parents for some of Huntington's most vulnerable children.
Snyder uniquely understands the struggles families face each day, that is why he is the only candidate in the Democratic Primary that supports:
*Extending the expanded child tax credit. *I support preschool for every 3-4 year-old and capping the cost of child care at 7% of a family’s income.
*Expand access to quality home care for older Americans and people with disabilities.
*Cutting taxes for low-wage workers by expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit.
*Offer a public option to the Affordable Care Act.
*Reduce health care premiums by expanding the Premium Tax Credit.
*Cap the price of insulin at $35 per month. *Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. “I support President Biden’s budget that puts more police on the street for community policing and hires more agents. It funds body cameras, crime prevention, community violence intervention, drug treatment, mental health, criminal justice reform, and reentry for people coming home after incarceration.
He said that incumbent Congressman Jim Banks voted against families in each instance.
