Haunted trail opens here Friday

- By BOB SHRALUKA

Haunted houses, haunted barns and, now, a haunted trail.

It’s the City of Decatur which wants to haunt you on a trail in HannaNuttman Park, beginning this Friday. The event is scheduled for 7-10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and again at the same times on the following Friday and Saturday.

Although the haunted trail is the brainchild of the city, the actual setup will be done by the family which hosted a haunted barn here for a number of years, Mayor Dan Rickord said.

The trail is approximately a fourth of a mile long on a stone path on the west side of HannaNuttman. Parking will be available in the parking lot off Washington St. (Archbold Road).

Tickets are $5 and will only be available at the concession stand on the west side of the Rev Sports Complex. Cash is preferred, according to officials.

Limited concessions will be available, cash only.

All proceeds will go to the improvement of Decatur’s parks.

Officials say the haunted trail is not recommended for anyone under the age of 10 and it is recommended that anyone under 15 should have adult supervision.

Large groups of people will be split into groups with a maximum of six “in order to get the most out of your experience,” organizers said.

MANSION, TOO: For those wanting more haunting, the Adams County Historical Society is holding its annual Haunted Dugan Mansion every Friday and Saturday, 7-10 p.m., through Halloween.

Admission is $5 per person at the mansion/ museum at Monroe and Fifth streets.

Museum officials note that the event is not suitable for children under the age of 5.
