Thomas A. Rittmeyer, 69, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on September 18, 1953, in Rochelle, Illinois to the late Lester and Jean (Carlson) Rittmeyer.

Tom was united in marriage to Glenda Martin on December 28, 1974, in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1992. He married Molita (Moorman) Rittmeyer on May 21, 1994 at Decatur Church of God in Decatur and she survives.

He attended Winnebago High School, class of 1971 and Highland Jr. College in 1973. Tom was a member of Decatur Church of God.

Tom greatly enjoyed his career with Schwan’s Home Delivery, especially getting to know his customers and families for 23 years.

Tom loved his wife and family, and is remembered by many for his playful spirit and telling a good long story. He loved the Lord and enjoyed serving in the video department at church for many years and visiting shut-ins to take them video copies of the Sunday service. Tom greatly enjoyed gardening, woodworkin­g and sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. He spent years volunteeri­ng at Woodcrest calling bingo for the residents. As a young man Tom enjoyed farming and playing fast-pitch softball.

He is survived by his wife, Molita Rittmeyer of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Renee (Jeff) Magley of Greenwood, Indiana; daughter, Karissa (Brett) Hulse of Indianapol­is, Indiana; son, Rex (Sara) Patterson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister,

Carol Hogan of Loves Park, Illinois; eight grandchild­ren, Jacob and Emma Magley; Charlie and Julia Hulse; Jordan, Brynn, Bristol and Karsyn Patterson.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Decatur Church of God with Pastor Brent Doster and Pastor Jamie Conkling officiatin­g. Burial will take place at Decatur Cemetery at later date.

Friends and family will be received from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023, Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Preferred memorials are to Decatur Church of God and Stillwater Hospice.

Arrangemen­ts are by the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana.
