Larry A. Jackson, 81, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Tuesday morning, January 24, 2023, at his daughter’s residence.

He was born on Saturday, January 24, 1942, in Adams County, Indiana to the late Harlan V. and A. Maxine (Welker) Jackson. Larry was united in marriage to Patricia L. Johnson on November 6, 1965. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965. He was in the blockade during the Bay of Pigs Crisis in Cuba.

Larry was a member of St. Mark’s Church in Decatur. He was in the church choir and taught Sunday School.

Larry was an owner and operator of Jackson Machining and had previously worked at Central Soya in Decatur for 17 years.

He enjoyed working with his hands and completing many projects for his family.

Larry is survived by his wife, Pat Jackson of Decatur, Indiana; son, David (Tonya) Jackson of Decatur, Indiana; twin daughter, Angela (Jon) Leyse of Monroe, Indiana; twin son, Timothy (Cindy) Jackson of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Ed (Judy) Jackson of Convoy, Ohio; nine grandchild­ren, Dustin B. (Cassidy) Jackson, Andrew (Tricia) Jackson, Thomas (Cassie) Jackson, Samantha (Kyle) Arnold, Rachel Leyse, Sydney Leyse, Anna Leyse, Jake Jackson, and Lilli Jackson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Rydell.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023, at St. Mark’s Church in Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Samuel Padgett and Pastor Charles Areson officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery of rural Decatur with Military Honors being rendered by the American Legion Post #43.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2023, at St. Mark’s Church in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
