David L. Flueckiger, 57, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 17, 1966, in Van Wert, Ohio to the Rev. Jerry and Bonnie (Cook) Flueckiger. David was united in marriage to Deborah McNary on June 13, 2001.

David grew up attending First Mennonite Church, where his father was the Youth Pastor. He joined the Berne Fire Department as a volunteer fireman in 1987 and served the Berne Community for 10 years. David formerly worked at BF Goodrich in Woodburn, and earned his electricia­n journeyman license.

David loved spending time with his family. He had a soft spot for his grandchild­ren and cherished the time spent with them. He enjoyed watching football and was a devoted Los Angeles Rams fan. He was a baseball and football coach for the Saint Joe Little League.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Flueckiger of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter Erica (Jeremy) Kirchner of Monroe, Indiana; son, Tyler Flueckiger of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Taylor Flueckiger of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Mark (Kim) Flueckiger of Culver, Indiana; stepdaught­er, Amber Wilcox; eleven grandchild­ren, Kaidon Flueckiger, Braxten Kirchner, Bohden Kirchner, Logan Kirchner, Degon Kirchner, Kacyn Zaugg, Kreighten Zaugg,Kashden Zaugg, Kixley Zaugg, Knox Thieme, and Kollyns Thieme; nephew, Calvin Flueckiger of Culver, Indiana; and niece, Joy Miller of Bluffton, Indiana

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Beth Maag.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at First Mennonite Church in Berne – 566 W. Main St. Berne, Indiana with Pastor Jim Schwartz officiatin­g.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 at First Mennonite Church. On Tuesday there will be no visitation prior to the service but will be a time for visiting at the meal which will follow the service.
