Berne police investigating reported shots of gunfire

Berne Police Chief Tim Taylor and Adams County Sheriff Dan Mawhorr issued a press release Tuesday noting their departments are investigating reported shots of gunfire on Interlaken Drive on the east side of Berne on July 15 around 1:12 a.m.

The report said officers were informed of a discharge of a firearm that resulted in the round penetrating the adjoining wall of the nextdoor apartment.

Police said they have submitted information to Adams County Prosecuting Attorney Jeremy W. Brown for his review to determine if possible criminal charges are warranted.

When asked about injuries or damages, Chief Taylor explained that the matter is under investigation.
