72nd Miss Universe pageant continues deal with Roku Channel Universal miss:
Beauty, grace, humanitarianism and swimsuits: the “72nd Miss Universe” pageant broadcasts live from the National Gymnasium in San Salvador,
El Salvador, Saturday,
Nov. 18, on the Roku
Channel.
Airing as part of an ongoing deal between
The Miss Universe Organization (now owned by JKN Global Group
PCL), The Roku Channel and Telemundo, the event marks the second live event for Roku and will be broadcast in English and Spanish on said networks, respectively.
This year marks some important changes for the organization, as this competition will be the first in 66 years in which the Miss Universe Organization has allowed married women and women with children to walk the stage once again: this welcomes Camila Avella (Colombia), Michelle Cohn (Guatemala) and Alexandra Stoyanova (Bulgaria), who otherwise would not have been able to compete.
It will also mark the debut of Pakistan to the competition (Erica Robin), and the returns of Denmark, Egypt, Guyana, Hungary, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mongolia, Norway and Zimbabwe, all of which have not entered the competition for at least two years.
The winner takes office immediately after coronation, becoming an ambassador for a year, spreading the organization’s positive message and humanitarian works, including fighting for women’s ethnic minority rights, racial issues, public health issues and environmental issues. Winners also receive a cash allowance and other perks, such as scholarships, modeling opportunities, beauty products, clothes, styling, fitness services and more.
The “72nd Miss Universe” pageant airs live, Saturday, Nov. 18, on the Roku Channel.
