Light sets new career high for Jets
Diver Damon Light broke his own Adams Central school record on Monday night as the Adams Central boys finished third in their swim meet behind Fort Wayne Snider and Norwell.
The Jets compiled a team score of 96. Snider won the competition with 110 points, outpacing the 103 accumulated by Norwell.
Light racked up an astounding 233.55 points in the diving competition. His score left him ahead of the two divers from Snider by a considerable margin.
Logan Heiman, Tristen Wurm, Kale Rathbun and Treyten Tomkinson turned in a fourth-place finish for the Jets in the 200 yard medley relay. Their final time was 2:12.07.
One of the two Norwell teams won the event.
Fourth place was also where Ethan Crockett wound up in the 200 yard freestyle. First place in the same event went to Kale Meredith of Norwell.
The first victory for an Adams Central swimmer on Monday came in the 200 IM. Logan Clark built a 6.58-second lead after the first lap and never looked back. Clark wound up winning the race by 11.08 seconds.
Owen Connelley of Adams Central placed fourth.
The 50 yard freestyle, won by Riley Foote of Snider, saw Heiman and Rathbun place third and fourth, respectively. The final time for Heiman was 28.24 seconds. Rathbun touched the wall 0.96 seconds later.
Clark was victorious again when he recorded a time of 1:01.53 in the 100 yard butterfly. He led by 2.05 seconds at the turn before widening the lead down the stretch.
1:01.55 gave Eli Wellman fourth place in the 100 free.
The race was won by Foote.
Crockett and Wurm were the only swimmers who competed in the 500 yard freestyle. Crockett won with a time of 6:18.89.
Snider took the win in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Connelley, Wellman, Clark and Crockett finished in third.
Heiman completed the 100 yard backstroke in 1:14.51 to pick up third place. Ethan Williamson of Norwell was first.
Wellman finished sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke. Parker McCartney gave the Knights another win, setting a mark of 1:12.77.
The final event of the evening, the 400 yard freestyle relay, saw Connelley, Crockett, Clark and Wellman place third. Top spot went to the Panthers.
The Jets are scheduled to be off until they travel to Jay County on February 15th to compete in IHSAA Boys Swimming Sectional Prelims at 5:30 p.m.
