-

Five accident reports were released today by law enforcement which included a Sunday crash at 8:50 a.m. that resulted in injuries to the driver after his vehicle rolled over.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department noted that Fernando Dominguez, 41, Bluffton, was eastbound in a van on SR 124 just east of CR 600 W when he lost control of his vehicle due to hitting a snow drift across the road. The van left the roadway on the south side into a ditch and completely rolled over before coming to rest on its wheels in a farm field.

Dominguez was wearing a lap and shoulder belt at the time of the mishap but still sustained incapacitating head injuries according to the police report. He was taken to the hospital by EMS. Police estimated damage to the van at between $10,001-$25,000.

The other four accidents reported did not involve injuries and included:

At 6:59 a.m. Saturday, Grant D. Weber, 19, E. Washington Street, Monroe, was southbound on CR 300 E just north of SR 124 in a pick-up truck when four deer ran onto the road. One of the animals collided with the passenger side of the van causing an estimated $1,001-$2,500 in damage.

At 12:07 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s department probed a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US 27 and US 33. Police said Kimberly K. Nation, 48, Huntington, told them she was turning east from US 27 onto US 33 and thought she had enough time to clear the intersection. In the process, she failed to yield the right of way to a northbound car on US 27 operated by Brett M. Schwartz, 21, rural Berne, and the vehicles collided. Damage was placed at between $10,001-$25,000.

At 12:43 p.m. Monday, Theresa G. King, 63, rural Decatur, was eastbound on a private drive on the west side of S. 13th Street. She entered the roadway into a parking lot across the street but then noticed an unidentified vehicle cross the highway in trying to make a left turn to go south. The vehicles collided but the second vehicle left the scene without stopping. Under $1,001 in damage was done to the King Jeep Patriot vehicle according to a Decatur Police Department estimate.

At 2:35 p.m. Monday, Decatur police went to a two-vehicle crash at 13th Street and Monroe Street. Their report stated Joseph D. Pederson, 22, N. Fifth Street, Decatur, was southbound on 13th Street and had slowed down when his pick-up truck was struck in the rear by another southbound vehicle operated by Sarah E. Nunez, 39, Bellmont Boulevard, Decatur. Between $2,501-$5,000 in damage was estimated to have been done to the two vehicles in the crash.
