These stores are open for Christmas Day essentials
Some stores that sell food and other essentials are open on Christmas Day, but they do not include Wegmans or other grocers, which also close early on Christmas Eve. In addition, most grocery stores close early on New Year’s Eve and some are even closed on New Year’s Day.
Here is a rundown of hours:
Wegmans Christmas Eve hours
Wegmans stores will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.
Wegmans Christmas hours
Wegmans will be closed on Christmas Day and reopen at 6 a.m. Dec. 26.
Wegmans New Year’s hours
Wegmans will close at 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and reopen at 6 a.m. New Year’s Day.
Tops Friendly Markets holiday hours
Tops stores will close at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve and be closed Christmas Day. They will reopen at 6 a.m. Dec. 26 (unless they normally open at 7 a.m.) They will close at 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve and reopen at 6 a.m. New Year’s Day (unless they normally open at 7 a.m.).
Whole Foods Market holiday hours
Whole Foods stores will be open until 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, be closed Christmas Day and reopen at 8 a.m. Dec. 26. They will close at 9 p.m. (the normal time) on New Year’s Eve and reopen at 8 a.m. New Year’s Day.
ALDI holiday hours
ALDI stores will be open until 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve and be closed Christmas Day. They will close at 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve and be closed New Year’s Day. Stores will return to normal operating hours on Dec. 26, and Jan. 2. For information about specific stores, go to stores.aldi.us/stores.
Trader Joe’s holiday hours
Trader Joe’s stores will close at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. They will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and return to normal operating hours Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
Costco holiday hours
Costco stores will be open until 5 p.m. Christmas Eve and until 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve. They will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Price Rite holiday hours
Price Rite stores will be open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, be closed Christmas Day and reopen at 8 a.m. Dec. 26. They will be open until 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and reopen at 8 a.m. New Year’s Day.
Walmart holiday hours
Walmart locations, whose Supercenters include full-service grocery stores, will be open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, be closed Christmas Day and reopen at 6 a.m. Dec. 26. Stores will be open during normal business hours New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid holiday hours
Some, but not all, major chain pharmacies that sell food items are open on holidays, including Christmas.
Many CVS Pharmacy locations will be open during regular hours Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. However, some stores may be closed or have reduced hours. CVS recommends that people call their neighborhood store or check cvs.com before visiting.
Walgreens stores are scheduled to be open during regular hours on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, most stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and during regular hours New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
In all cases, pharmacy hours will vary by location, so people should call their store before visiting or check walgreens.com. All 24-hour stores will continue operating around the clock during the holidays.
