Freihofer’s Bakery Outlet in Henrietta has permanently closed
Freihofer’s Bakery Outlet in Henrietta — a destination for deeply discounted baked goods — has closed permanently.
Freihofer’s parent company, Bimbo Bakeries USA, confirmed the store’s closure, which was located within the Genesee Valley Regional Market at 900 Jefferson Road, along with a number of others throughout New York state on Wednesday.
“After careful analysis and consideration, we made the difficult decision to permanently close several of our outlet stores and redistribute product to other locations,” a Bimbo Bakeries USA representative said in a written statement. “We appreciate all of our associates who worked at these stores and are taking steps to help ease them through this transition.”
The company did not provide a reason as to why they have decided to close the stores and did not provide a list of locations, although other media, including Syracuse.com, have reported that the Verona, Geneva and Rome stores and four in the Albany area have shuttered in recent days.
On Yelp, the Henrietta store has received high praise for the quality of its items, its friendly staff and the deals.
“So what if the expiration date is a couple days away,” one person wrote. “I buy and freeze so it will stay longer as I love to save money.”
Another customer reported getting two bags of English muffins for $1.
Wrote a third: “This is the motherlode of discounted carbs.”
