8 CVS pharmacies in Michigan to offer COVID-19 vaccines
CVS Health will be administering COVID-19 vaccine appointments at eight pharmacy locations in Michigan, including five in metro Detroit, starting Sunday.
There will be four participating locations in Detroit and one each in Fraser, Holt, Jackson and Lansing.
No specific store addresses were given, but company spokesman Charlie Rice-Minoso said people signing up online will be able to see appointments that will be near them.
Rice-Minoso said all of the sites will administer the Pfizer vaccine initially, however other types of vaccines could be administered in the future as supply permits.
The shots will be free.
Appointments for eligible Michiganders will become available for booking Friday as stores receive shipments of vaccine, according to a company release.
Those meeting state eligibility criteria to receive a shot, as well as K-12 teachers and staff and child care workers, can sign up to receive a vaccine.
Patients must register in advance through CVS.com, the CVS Pharmacy app or at 800746-7287.
Walk-ins without an appointment will not be accommodated.
The company said it will expand to more stores and in more communities in Michigan as more vaccines become available. The vaccine supply is coming from the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, it said.
The sites in Michigan are among more than 1,300 CVS Pharmacy locations across 35 states and Puerto Rico where the company is administering the vaccine.
Shots eventually will be available at locations throughout the country, subject to availability, with the capacity to administer 20 million to 25 million per month, according to the release.
