MIAMI – Veteran point guard Patty Mills has agreed to sign with the Miami Heat for the remainder of the season, a person with knowledge of the deal said Tuesday.

Mills played in 19 games with Atlanta off the bench this season before getting waived on Feb. 29, in time to preserve his postseason eligibility with another team.

Cavs’ Mitchell has ‘wear and tear’

CLEVELAND – Donovan Mitchell’s left knee injury might keep the All-Star guard out longer than the Cavaliers initially estimated.

Coach J.B. Bickerstaff provided some clarity about Mitchell’s injury — deemed a bone bruise by the team — on Tuesday. Mitchell, who leads Cleveland in scoring and led the team through a tough stretch of injuries, will miss at least three games, though Bickerstaff indicated Mitchell could be out longer.

“I expect him to be back before a month,” Bickerstaff said.
