NHL ROUNDUP

- — Wire reports

Sunday’s games

Wild 4, Blackhawks 0: Kirill Kaprizov had two goals and an assist and Jesper Wallstedt made 24 saves for his first career victory and shutout for the visiting Wild, who moved within nine points of the Nashville Predators for the final Western Conference wild-card spot with five games remaining.

Wallstedt, 21, kept the Wild’s flickering postseason aspirations intact with a bounce-back effort from his NHL debut, a 7-2 loss at Dallas on Jan. 10.

Chicago (23-49-5, 51 points) couldn’t slow Minnesota’s hottest player nor generate much of an attack.

Wallstedt became the first goaltender in Wild franchise history to register a shutout for his first career win.

Hurricanes 3, Blue Jackets 0: Andrei Svechnikov and Sebastian Aho scored in the first period to set the tone and the Hurricanes rode another shutout for Frederik Andersen in their regular-season home finale.

Teuvo Teravainen tacked on a third-period goal after providing a first-period assist. Andersen posted his third shutout in his last seven outings, needing 23 saves.

The Hurricanes will play their last four regular-season games on the road before opening the Eastern Conference playoffs on home ice.

Senators 3, Capitals 2 (OT): Jake Sanderson scored 41 seconds into overtime to lift the visiting Senators.

Sanderson’s 10th goal of the season capped a comeback for Ottawa (34-39-4, 72 points), which trailed midway through the third period before Ridly Greig scored to force overtime.

Max Pacioretty and Aliaksei Protas scored one goal apiece for Washington (36-30-11, 83 points).

Coyotes 5, Sharks 2: Clayton Keller, Lawson Crouse and Nick Schmaltz each scored a goal and an assist for the visiting Coyotes.

Henry Thrun scored a goal and assisted on Luke Kunin’s goal for San Jose (18-51-8, 44 points), who have lost 11 of 14 (2-11-1).

Rangers 5, Canadiens 2: Chris Kreider scored a tiebreaking power-play goal 3:59 into the third period, Artemi Panarin added a goal and three assists for the host Rangers.

The Rangers (53-21-4, 110 points) matched the team record for regular-season wins set in 2014-15 and won for the eighth time in nine games (8-1-0).

Predators 3, Devils 2 (SO): Ryan O’Reilly scored the only goal in the shootout for the visiting Nashville Predators, who inched closer to clinching a playoff berth.

Roman Josi scored in the first period and Luke Evangelista scored the game-tying power play goal in the third for the Predators (45-29-4, 94 points), who snapped a tie with Vegas for the first wild-card spot in the West.
