We get a kick out of the juxtaposition of style and color on this new Z/28 that’s part of M2’s Detroit Muscle 1:24 series. It’s nominally a drag car, set up as it is with slicks in back and skinnies in front (both with Goodyear Eagle sidewall markings) mounted on Torq-Thrust II lookalike 5-spoke wheels. But a ’69 Z/28 wearing satin blue paint with a bow-tie logo over the front wheels, Camaro decals curved over the rear wheel arches, and wearing a big white number “6” on the door—well, that’s a tip of the hat to the corner-carving Camaro of the legendary Mark Donohue. There is no Penske or Sunoco livery so its not an official replica, but the interior is stripped down and dressed for racing with a roll cage, and the hood opens to reveal a cross-ramequipped high-revving 302. In typical M2 fashion there’s a standard-release version with black wheels and silver chrome trim, and a special “chase” version that, with its gold wheels and trim, looks even more likeDonohue’s Trans Am champ.
