Diesel World

A BUSY START FOR 2021

-

Event season is in full swing! Got a bunch of updates on whats going on here at Diesel World, plus an update on my personal builds. It’s been busy over here!

The three live streams we did last year has turned into a thing for us this year. We’ve got over a dozen planned with three done already. First one of the year was a bit out of the norm but still something we know most diesel fans really enjoy, we went 4-wheeling in Moab! The trip threw us tons of curve balls with the first being, the trail rides we were scheduled to be on were canceled, the day we got there. The plan was to follow a bunch of fullsize diesel rigs on the rocks for two days straight. That ride got canceled so we spent the week searching the rocks for some diesels. And we found more than just a few! Check out that stream on our Facebook page.

The second stream was from our own Golden State Diesel Fest in Sacramento California. We had drag racing, a dyno competition and a massive truck show. If you couldn’t make it out to our inaugural event at Sacramento Raceway, that stream is also on our Facebook page as well as on our new site, Motortopia.com. You can find all our future streams on Motortopia.com

And the third stream was from Ultimate Callout Challenge. Just head to Motortopia or our Facebook page to check out all the epic diesel goodness that is the norm at diesel’s “Superbowl”, Ultimate Callout Challenge.

The next feed for us will be from Rocky Top Diesel Shootout. Outlaw Diesel Super Series drag racing and more from Crossville Tennessee. Again, Facebook and Motortopia.com

Last rant, my two diesel’s. The 7.3l blew a head gasket a month or two ago. Which if you know the build, that is pretty odd because it is fire ringed… Not sure yet what really happened but I was towing an extremely light trailer, truck running perfect when randomly white smoke started billowing out the tail pipe (it was not fuel). Truck was still running perfect. Pulled over and saw the coolant was low so I put about a gallon in while it proceeded to immediately dump it all out the passenger side of the engine. So I’m thinking head gasket but prepared for it to be a combo of other issues. No time to touch it during event season, that’ll be a Fall project.

The Ecodiesel Jeep Wrangler. Had it 3-months now and have managed to put on about 6,000 miles thus far. It’s been epic in many ways, I’ve only got one negative. As far as power, it’s amazing. Plenty of power to get the job done safely and easily. Mileage wise

I’ve been getting 27 highway and about 23 in town. Amenity wise, well I’ve never had something with so many bells and whistles. It’ll spoil me. Capability wise, it has tackled everything I’ve thrown it at. Including a ton of snow wheeling and even Moab. Now with all the good being said, the one negative about this Jeep, at the moment it takes a bit of extra work to drive at above 80 MPH when some wind is thrown into the equation. I know, go figure that a lifted vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick has high speed handling issues. Honestly this is probably me coming from almost exclusively driving my diesel BMW the last few years. I’ve lost my touch or maybe I’m spoiled. Either way, the JL Jeep with the Ecodiesel has been a great purchase.

Get yourself out to some diesel events this year! I’ll see you there.
