Easy call to vote Lowrey for sanitary board
Voting isn’t easy. I’m prepared to do lots of research. I usually go to candidate forums to ask my unanswered questions.
Then came the COVID-19 situation.
That’s why I’m delighted to see someone I already respect, Angela Lowrey, is running for a seat on the Ironhouse Sanitary District board.
Angela has 11 years’ experience as an award-winning wastewater management professional in Contra Costa.
She will think outside the box to find state and federal funds for future improvement projects.
Wastewater service is crucial. Angela can make Ironhouse work efficiently and effectively. Voting for Angela Lowrey is an easy decision.

Guard against pollution, increased COVID risk
In reference to Fiona Kelliher’s article (“Coronavirus: California could see 89% increase in hospitalizations next month, health official warns,” Sept. 25), there are many factors that increase the risks from COVID-19.
The increase of air pollution due to the intensity of the wildfires may actually contribute to coronavirus fatalities.
The American Lung Association reports that there is a nationwide association between COVID-19 risk of death and the exposure to air pollution, specifically particulate matter PM 2.5.
Individuals should remain vigilant in protecting themselves during the wildfire season from air pollution. Reducing exposure could mean reducing the intensity of symptoms experienced as well as the risk of dying from COVID-19, if acquired.
With many individuals facing housing insecurity due to the pandemic, proper shelter has never been more “essential.” — Minx Manuel, Oakland
Vote for Anduri, Dawson for Lafayette council
Lafayette is lucky to have very talented individuals running for City Council. I know two of those candidates, Carl Anduri and Gina Dawson, fairly well and encourage you to vote for them.
Carl was a successful, wellrespected member of the Planning Commission and then the City Council over a period spanning 15 years.
He stepped down to devote time to his demanding job as president of a worldwide association of law firms.
Having retired recently, he is able to rejoin the council with his invaluable experience at a time when two members are stepping down.
Gina is an extremely bright, diligent, capable person. She has shown in many projects she’s undertaken for the community that she is a born leader.
She listens well and is thoughtful and considerate.
She is passionate about making Lafayette a city that is sustainable for generations to come.
Both Carl and Gina would serve Lafayette well.
