The Bottom Line: We all know that the luxury class is full of high end cars from the biggest manufacturers. And we are familiar with their names too. Like: Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, BMW, Jaguar, Genesis, Lexus. Wait, what? Who is Genesis?

Genesis Motors is the luxury vehicle division of the Hyundai Motor Group. The Genesis brand was officially announced as a stand alone marque in November of 2015. It is the luxury brand of Hyundai’s upscale spinoff. It’s goal is to compete with the cars from BMW, Lexus, Audi, MercedesBenz, etc.

The Genesis G80 and G90 sedans are not yet ready to enter the big leagues, read cars that cost over $100 Grand, but they do offer fantastic value compared to all of the large luxury sedans for sale today. Both are priced less than the BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS and Audi A8, but cost more than the smaller Cadillac CT6.

The average transaction price for an entry level luxury car is around $50,000. The average price for a flagship luxury liner is closer to $100,000. That’s a big gap, so these large luxury sedans have an average selling price of around $75,000.

As the flagship of the Genesis brand, the G90 delivers a super luxury ride, with a limo-like interior, and does so at a price that undercuts the established rivals by thousands of dollars. The base price for a Genesis G90 is $72,200, which makes it the most expensive base model among large luxury cars. However, its price ceiling is a lot lower than rivals with similar starting prices. The G90’s highest trim level starts at only $75,700.

This week Genesis sent me a top of the line 2020 Genesis G90 RWD 5.0 Ultimate Edition sedan to test drive and review. The window sticker base price is $75,700. The options on the test car: none. The total MSRP manufacturer’s suggested retail price, including the $995 destination charge, came to: $76,695. The only extra cost option available is AWD, all wheel drive, for $2,500 more.

The exterior of the 2020 G90 reflects the brand’s new design theme, and with the exception of the doors and roof, every other body panel has been redesigned. The dominant crest grille in the front is flanked by new quad headlights, and the license plate holder is located lower down in the front. The side profile has been elongated for added visual impact, new 19” inch alloy wheels feature a Matrix design, and make use of sound absorption technology to drastically reduce tire noise.

Inside the G90 now includes standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mirror Link. An Intelligent Car Management Service is online, as well as a Genesis first: an over-the-air wireless update information system for navigation maps and other software systems. Active driver assistance features such as Lane Following Assist and Safe Exit Assist are now standard.

While all luxury cars coddle the driver and passengers, the G90 Ultimate Edition takes it to another level. The driver gets a 22 way power seat, the front passenger gets a 16 way power seat, and the left rear seat gets 12 way power and the right rear seat with 14 way power adjustments. The

seats are all heated and ventilated, and covered in elegant Super Soft Nappa Leather. The headliner is Microfiber Suede, the dashboard and steering wheel are leather wrapped, and the interior trim has real Matte Finished Wood inserts. To say that the interior is stunning would be an understatement.

The power assist options run the gamut from a power tilt and slide sunroof, power rear sunshade, hands free power opening trunk lid, electronic powered parking brake, with auto vehicle hold, power door closing, and power rear door window sunshades.

The technology packages includes: smart cruise control with stop and go, heads up display, forward and rear collision avoidance, parking and back up blind spot rear collision assist, lane keeping assist, surround view cameras, 10 intelligent airbags, and rain sensing windshield wipers, just to name a few.

The G90 Ultimate Edition is the flagship luxury liner of the Genesis brand. The rear passenger compartment looks like a limousine, with every comfort and power accessory that you could imagine. The car has AM/FM/ HD SiriusXM radio powered by a

Lexicon 17 speaker Audio System with Quantum Logic and Surround Sound. The driver has every tech package available, and it’s powered by a 420 HP 5.0L V/8 engine with an 8 speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic mode and steering wheel paddle shifters. It has the Go that matches the Looks.

The 2020 Genesis G90 5.0 Ultimate sedan is the best luxury car for sale in the world today, for the price. The Ultimate Edition has all the luxury appointments and power options available, for $10,000 to $20,000 LESS than the competition. So call, click or visit your local Genesis dealer for an exciting test drive, and competitive cost review today.
