Unrelated shootings injure 3 in Oakland

OAKLAND >> Three people were shot between Friday evening and early Saturday in different areas of East Oakland, authorities said.

One of the victims was in critical condition.

Police do not think the three shootings are related.

T he person critically wounded was shot about 4 a. m. Saturday in the 1400 block of 28th Avenue. Police have not been able to confirm the victim’s age but said he is a male between 15 and 19 years old.

The victim apparently got into a dispute with some other men outside and was shot. He was able to get a ride to a friend’s home in another part of East Oakland where police and paramedics were called.

Police said the victim does not live in the area of the shooting and a motive has not yet been determined. No arrests have been made.

About 11: 30 p. m. Friday, a 67- year- old man was shot in the 600 block of Nevada Street.

The man told police he was walking home from a gas station when he heard gunfire and realized he had been shot. The man was able to make it to his nearby home where police were called. He was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.

Police do not have a motive yet for the shooting and have not determined if the man was the intended target or was hit by a stray bullet. No arrests have been made.

About 5:48 p.m. Friday a 33-year- old man was shot in the area of 98th Avenue and Pearmain Street.

The man told police he was outside when another man he did not know began shooting at him.

The suspect ran from the scene before police arrived. The wounded man was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
