Ford F-Series Trucks — America’s Best Selling Trucks for 43 years!

Here is the new 2021 Ford F-150 4x4 SuperCrew Pickup Truck You Are What You Drive — A Bottom Line Review

- By Tony Leopardo

The Bottom Line: While the F-150 model didn’t technically exist until 1975, the first 5 generations of Ford’s half ton truck from 1948 were called the F-1 and F-100. The first generation would be the F-1 though the F-8. These included a half ton pickup, COE cab over engine model, and a school bus chassis.

In 1975 the F-150 was introduced and has since gone on to become the best selling truck ever. Ford F- Series trucks have been the best selling vehicle in the US since 1981. In 2019, nearly 900,000 F-Series trucks rolled off dealer lots in America. Ford is looking forward to selling over One Million F-Series trucks every year very soon.

To keep the sales momentum moving in the right direction, Ford has totally redesigned the new F-150 for the 2021 model year. According to Ford, the new truck is tougher than before, and smarter than ever.

The all new 2021 F-150 is purpose built from the ground up, redesigned to be the toughest, most productive F-150 in history. This is what happens when you merge premium grade muscle, with finely tuned intelligence, and design. A relentlessly tough, high strength, military grade aluminum alloy body, on a torture tested, high strength steel frame, with new tech to help you work harder and smarter.

This week Ford sent me a 2021 Ford F-150 4x4 SuperCrew V6 EcoBoost FX4 Platinum Edition pickup truck to test drive and review. The base price of this 3.5L liter V/6 EcoBoost powered 4 full door truck is $60,535. The options of the test truck are: None. The total MSRP manufacturer’s suggested retail price, including the $1,695 destination charge, came to: $62,230.

Ford knows that their pickup truck buyers are from all walks of life. From everyday construction workers, to

CEO’s of major corporations. That’s why Ford builds the F-150 in 6 different models. Starting with the XL basic truck at $28,940, then you go up to the XL, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and topping out with the Limited Edition with a starting price of $70,825. After you pick your trim level, then you add in your comfort options, technology packages, bed length, and engine and driveline choices.

To appeal to everyone’s budget Ford has a new 2021 F-150 pickup truck from just under $30,000 to over $70 Grand, with 100’s of choices in between. The Platinum Edition includes the 700A equipment group, which is over and above the 50 plus standard options to start with.

The 700A equipment group adds all of the best stuff: A set of 20” polished aluminum wheels, the 3.5 L liter V/6 EcoBoost engine bolted to an electronic 10 speed automatic transmission with tow mode, 275 60R 20” black sidewall all terrain tires, an electronic locking 3:55 ratio rear axle, a class leading 7,050 GVWR gross vehicle weight rating, the towing technology package, a 360 degree camera, 50 state emission controls, Ford Co-Pilot

360 active parking assist package, a twin panel glass moonroof with power retracting shade, the Pro Power Onboard 110 volt power outlets, the FX4 off road and trail package with skid plates, the extended range 36 gallon fuel tank, a tray style carpeted mat bed liner, power deployed running boards, a spray in bed liner, and a hard tonneau bed cover.

The Platinum Edition interior comes with: 10 way power black leather covered front bucket seats with Carmelo Cloth inserts and contrasting stitching, a 60/40 split fold up rear heated bench seat, power adjustable gas and brake pedals with memory, full cab carpeting with premium floor mats, real wood dash and door trim accent panels, heated and ventilated front seats, intelligent adaptive cruise control, a leather wrapped steering wheel, memory driver seat, multicontour seats with active motion control, and a power tilt and telescoping steering column with memory.

Ford realizes that owners want upscale, luxury appointments in their pickup trucks. The new F-150 can be ordered with upgrades that rival many German luxury cars in available options. The base price of a new 2021 Ford F-150 starts at

less than $29,000 and goes up to over $70,000, plus options, minus rebates. The Ford F- Series has been America’s best selling trucks for 43 years, and they want to stay at the top of the sales charts.

If you’re in the market for a new pickup truck, then you have to put the 2021 Ford F-150 at the top of your buy list. Call, click or visit your local Ford Store for a test drive and a bottom line price review. The F-150 has always been built tough and strong, now Ford has added the comfort, power and smart technology packages to make their trucks the best of the best.
