Virginia Mueller

-

Virginia was born to Corinne and Dwight Gibson at their home in Oakland, Ca. When she was five years old, she was adopted by Helen and Carl Lehman of Santa Rosa, Ca.

In 1944 she married Cecil (Cy) George Cardiff of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They had four beautiful daughters and moved to Kensington, Ca in 1955. They divorced in 1960. Two years later she fell in love with and married Albert Clinton Mueller, a chemist, and added three stepchildren to her family.

Virginia and Al were a good match. They loved to travel, and especially enjoyed hauling their 18foot travel trailer to 49 states, Canada, and Mexico. They worked well together - completing many home projects and donating countless hours to their church.

Virginia loved being a grandmother and homemaker. Whether she was rooting for the Giants, painting ceramics, watching Jeopardy, or making ice cream sundaes, Gramma’s heart was full when she was around her family and dogs at home. Her quick wit and feistiness made her the life of the party. She enjoyed many hobbies, such as needlework and knitting, and always shared the things she made with her family and friends. Virginia never failed to welcome others into her home and had a warmth and kindness that reached all who knew her.

She was active in PTA, Camp Fire Girls, and P.E.O. She attended Christ Lutheran Church in El Cerrito where she enjoyed being in the bell choir, counting the offering, and being a member of the HUGS group. She always greeted visitors and wanted everyone to feel loved and accepted.

Virginia died peacefully at her home of 65 years surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Al, her older sister, Peg Cockroft, her brother Carl Lehman Jr, her daughter, Karen Jane Alexander, and her stepdaughter, Barbara Mueller. She is survived by her sister Martha Jean Brow, her children and stepchildren, Helen Cardiff, Susan Cardiff, Deany Cardiff, Joe Mueller (Heather), and Betsy Mueller, her grandchildren David Alexander, Janet Catalano, Amy Garza, Erin Cardiff, and Emily Springhart, 10 great-grandchildren, and 6 great- great- grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 780 Ashbury Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530.
