Two are wounded in shootings across the city
The men were shot about half an hour apart
OAKLAND >> Two men were shot about half an hour apart Tuesday night in different areas of the city, authorities said.
Both men were in stable condition.
One of the victims, a 19-year-old man, was shot about 8:56 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Campbell Street in West Oakland in the city’s Acorn neighborhood.
The man, who got his own transportation to a hospital, told police he was outside when he heard gunfire and saw that he had been shot in the lower leg. Police recovered dozens of shell casings in the area.
Police have not determined a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
Police are trying to determine if the shooting is related to another one earlier in the evening in the 1100 block of Eighth Street in which a residence and several parked vehicles were hit by gunfire but no one was reported injured.
Numerous shell casings were found at that scene as well, police said.
The other shooting — which left a 19-year-old man wounded — happened about 9:21 p.m. near 90th Avenue and International Boulevard in East Oakland, authorities said.
Authorities said it appears that the man was outside when two groups of people started shooting at each other and he was hit in the lower leg by a stray bullet.
He got a ride to a hospital from another person.
No other injuries were reported.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined and no arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money in each shooting for information leading to the arrests of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510777-8572.
