Report: Osbourne uses derogatory language

Allegations that “The Talk” co-host Sharon Osbourne used racist and anti-gay slurs against her former co-hosts Julie Chen and Sara Gilbert may also be driving CBS’ internal review of the show, which has gone on hiatus.

Osbourne frequently referred to Chen, who is a Chinese American, as “slanty eyes” and “wonton,” among other racist and ethnic slurs reported by journalist Yashar Ali Tuesday on Substack. Ali’s sources, who include former “The Talk” host Leah Remini, also said Ozzy Osbourne’s wife used numerous anti-gay insults against Gilbert, who is a lesbian.

Ali furthermore reported that Osbourne used a demeaning term against Iranian American talent agent Renee Tab on at least two occasions in 2003 while falsely accusing her of stealing jewelry.

Ali’s report comes as Osbourne continues to face backlash for her angry, onair defense of British TV personality Piers Morgan, who himself came under fire after he opined that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was lying when she expressed fears about suicide and her mental health during her March 7 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

After Alex Beresford, one of Morgan’s co-hosts on “Good Morning Britain,” slammed him for his constant criticism of Meghan and said his comments about her mental health claims were inappropriate, Morgan stormed off the set and agreed to leave the morning show.

Osbourne came to Morgan’s defense last week when co-host Sheryl Underwood asked what she would say to people who believe Morgan expressed racist sentiments because of the way he spoke about the biracial Duchess of Sussex, The Sun reported.

Osbourne lashed out: “Why is it that because I supported a longtime friend and work colleague for years, people go, ‘Well you must be racist because he’s racist.’ ” “No. I support his freedom of speech,” Osbourne said. “I’m not racist and neither is Piers racist. What have I ever said about anybody that’s racist? It’s not within me. It’s not in my soul.”

But Osbourne also later apologized for her statements, and CBS decided to put “The Talk” on hiatus and launch an internal review.
