Prince Harry and Meghan are in nesting mode, with the expectant mother reportedly planning to give birth to their second child at their Montecito home and both parents aiming to take leave from their various endeavors in Silicon Valley and Hollywood to enjoy “real quality time together.”

Sources told Vanity Fair royal correspondent Katie Nicholl that the couple plan to enjoy both paternity and maternity leave when their daughter arrives. She will be the little sister to son Archie, who turns 2 on May 6.

“They will both take some proper time off,” a friend told Vanity Fair. “It will be the summer and they want to make sure they both take their leave so they have some real quality time together once the baby arrives.”

It has been a whirlwind year for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, after fleeing the U.K and their jobs as senior working members of the royal family. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the industrious couple were photographed delivering food to people in need, moved into their new mansion in Santa Barbara County, launched their Archewell

Foundation initiatives, signed multimillion-dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify, recorded one episode of their much-anticipated podcast and, most recently, gave an explosive interview to Oprah Winfrey that left the British royal family reeling over their allegations of racism and poor treatment of Meghan.

On top of all that, the duchess is supposedly nursing ambitions in U.S. politics and met with California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Harry publicly announced that he had started two new jobs: as the “chief impact” officer for a Silicon Valley startup devoted to promoting wellness at corporations; and as a member of the Aspen Institute’s Commission on Information Disorder, a media-focused project at the well-funded D.C. think tank.

The due date for their new daughter isn’t clear. But once she arrives, she will become eighth in line to the British throne, as well as the first royal baby born in Meghan’s home country of the United States.

The couple’s parenting focus reportedly includes Meghan getting the home birth she hoped for with Archie in 2019, when they were living at Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle, Page Six reported.
