Jessie L. Espinosa

Jessie L. Espinosa, of San Leandro, California, passed away on March 28, 2021, at home surrounded by family at the age of 90. She was born on July 23, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was raised in Beaufort, South Carolina. She is the daughter of the late Leroy D. Gray and Margaret Blocker and sister to Leroy, Wayne, and Walter. On May 3, 1953, she married Arthur Espinosa and that’s when it all started. Jessie’s greatest love was being with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Jessie was an active member of the St. Felicitas Catholic Church Women’s Club. She loved to exercise with her husband and all of her friends at the local San Leandro Senior Center. Her greatest passion, which kept her and her husband going for many years, was being involved with her granddaughter’s Special Olympics Team the Nergizers. Jessie and Art were blessed with many years of enjoying their family at family reunions at Capitola, California, and South Lake Tahoe, California, eating ice cream. She is survived by her son Mitch, grandchildren Steven, Chris, Josh, and Melissa, great-grandchildren Joseph and Hailey; son Cliff and Marianne, grandchildren Scott, Selina, and Kimiyo, greatgrandchildren Lauren and Troy; son John and Charlene, grandchildren Pennie, Sally, and Juan, great-grandchildren Justin, Matthew, Juan Jr., Lilah, Leilani, and Keanu; son Billy and Wynette, grandchildren Sarah and Justin; and daughter Lori and Kevin, grandchildren Sean, Sarah and Karen. A service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at 10:00 am at Holy Sepulchre, in Hayward, California. The burial will take place directly after the service. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers; please send all donations to the Special Olympics of Northern California.
