August 9, 1952 - March 8, 2021 Resident of Fairfield, CA

-

Walter Frederick Parsons, age 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his two daughters and wife, Kathy, on their 46th wedding anniversary, March 8, 2021.

Walter was born in San Francisco, California on August 9, 1952 to George and Ilse Parsons. He grew up in Pittsburg, Ca where he graduated from Pittsburg High in 1970 and where he later began a family. He studied at San Francisco State and Diablo Valley College, where he met the love of his life, Kathy and later married March 8, 1975 in Walnut Creek, Ca. Together they had two daughters, Kelly and Kristy.

Walter began his career in lithography at Mastercraft Press in San Francisco; a talented pressman with an eye for art and attention to detail. Here, he mastered the sixcolor Heidelberg Press and became a journeyman pressman. He enjoyed his craft and all the friends he met along the way. In 1991 his family relocated to Fairfield, Ca where they eventually bought Credit Bureau of Fairfield. Walter worked part-time there after retirement. His natural, witty gift of humor, one-dollar side bets, and hot burgers off his old beat up Weber grills are things his colleagues will never forget. As a devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend, he was an avid sports fan who knew when to ‘hold-em’ and when to ‘fold-em’. Walter was a twenty– year season ticket holder with the Oakland A’s and a loyal Oakland Raiders fan who traveled to the 1981 Super Bowl XV in New Orleans. Walter’s annual April Fools poker tournaments became a Fairfield tradition for 18 years. He also cherished his Tuesday nights with his Pittsburg Poker family. Always proud of his Pittsburg and Parkside roots, he maintained lifetime friendships where his friends became the brothers and sisters he never had.

Walter is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Goldmann) Parsons; daughters, Kelly O’Brien (Steven) and Kristy Ciesielski (Nicholas); and seven beautiful grandchildren that he adored. Walter was a stranger to no one and the life of any party. He will be deeply missed by all of those that knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held in Fairfield, Ca in early August with family and friends to honor his full and blessed life, his trademark flip flops, and the many “moons” spent together.
