Stephen Mark O’Grady’s beautiful spirit was peacefully released on March 29, 2021, at the age of 39. Mark was born to shine, and his larger-than-life personality dazzled everyone he met. By the age of 2 it was evident he had a passion for design and an eye for all things beautiful and he filled his life with both till the very end. Mark had a passion for shopping, traveling, outdoors, great food, and wine, and he enjoyed sharing these things with his fiancé Isaiah, chosen family, and friends. He was grateful for the LGBTQ+ community that accepted him with open arms once he learned to embrace his truth authentically.

Mark was born and raised in Antioch, CA, where he spent most of his life before moving to Concord, CA in 2013. He graduated high school in 1999 and then from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise in 2001, followed by employment at Expo Design Center and Altera Design & Remodeling before finding his home with Toupin Construction as the Design Manager in 2010.

He loved creating beautiful spaces and memories for his clients and working with a fantastic group of people he lovingly referred to as his “Toupin Family” until early February 2021. Mark’s optimism and strength were palpable to those around him as he faced the cancer diagnosis and treatment. He was determined to keep life as normal as possible by continuing to keep his social calendar full and planning mini-vacation’s with his beloved fiancé.

Mark is preceded in death by his father, Stephen Michael O’Grady. Mark is survived by his beloved fiancé Isaiah Davis, mother Lynda O’Grady, siblings Candy (Mathew) Wham, Marshall (Ellen) O’Grady, and Cheryl Anderson, nieces Kristen (Michael) Blankenship and Kimbah (Chad) Kalpin, nephew Jared Anderson, and two great-nephews and two great-nieces.
