OAKLAND >> Two men are facing murder charges in connection with the March fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in Castro Valley, court records show.

Louis Arbee, 26, and Danquay Johnson, 24, both of Vallejo, were charged last month with murdering Tyon Bratcher, who was shot inside a vehicle about 5:15 p.m. March 16, on the 19800 block of San Miguel Avenue in Castro Valley. Police haven’t released a suspected motive for the shooting.

Authorities said at the time that two suspects eluded capture after a police chase and a search that lasted several hours. The suspects ditched their car near Oakland’s Rockridge district near the College Avenue exit from Highway 24 and ran away. They weren’t found despite dozens of police participating in the search and temporarily shutting down part of Ivanhoe Road.

Arbee and Johnson also are charged with evading police and nonfatally shooting a woman on the same day Bratcher was killed. The charging records name Arbee as the alleged shooter and also accuse him of carrying a concealed weapon the day of the shooting.

Johnson has prior convictions that include evading police and street terrorism and Arbee’s priors include a conviction for “illegal firearm activity” in San Francisco, court records show.

Both men were arrested at an apartment on the 400 block of Corcoran Avenue in Vallejo on Oct. 4. It is listed as their home address in court records. They’re both being held in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on no-bail holds, court records show.

A preliminary hearing, where a judge will review evidence and determine if there is enough to order the defendants to stand trial, has not yet been set.
