OAKLAND >> Four people were wounded in two Oakland shootings early Monday, including a woman and a man shot while they were driving on a cul-de-sac next to Lake Merritt where a woman was fatally shot last week, authorities said.

All of the victims are in stable condition.

The shooting of the woman and man while driving in a car happened about 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Lakeshore Avenue.

The 27-year-old woman was wounded in the lower leg and the 39-year-old man was shot in the arm, authorities said. Police have not yet said how the two knew each other.

They told police they were driving southbound on the cul-de-sac when someone began shooting at them.

More than two dozen shell casings were recovered on the street and the car the two were in was hit numerous times, police said.

The Lake Merritt United Methodist Church that is also on the block was hit by a stray bullet but no one was injured, authorities said.

Police have not determined a motive yet for the shooting and have not made any arrests.

About 12:50 a.m. Thursday, a 22-year-old woman sitting in a parked vehicle in the 1400 block of Lakeshore Avenue was shot. She died Saturday afternoon. Police have not released a motive yet for that shooting and have not announced any arrests.

On May 8, four people were shot in the 1400 block of Lakeshore and about 3:30 a.m. Nov. 9 a woman was shot and robbed in the 1200 block of the cul-de-sac.

The other Monday morning shooting happened about 1:16 a.m. in the 2500 block of High Street near Brookdale Park in East Oakland.

A 33-year-old man was shot in the back and a 20-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her hand. Authorities said the two knew each other.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument the man got into with another man but what the argument was about has not been released. No arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in each shooting for information leading to the arrests of the shooters. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510777-8572.
