Saratoga's Lucas Dennis pitches second no-hitter in the last week

One week after pitching a no-hitter against Lynbrook, Saratoga junior Lucas Dennis did the same against Fremont of Sunnyvale.

Back-to-back starts. Back-to-back nohitters.

In an 8-0 victory at home over Fremont in a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division game, Dennis struck out nine and also made a highlight-reel play in the sixth to keep the no-hitter alive. On a grounder between the mound and first base, Dennis chased down the ball and flipped it to first from his knees for the out. He is 5-3 this season with a 1.32 ERA. Doug Bettinger, Nathan Lee and Samanyu Ram each had three hits and Aiden Chen knocked in three runs for Saratoga.

No. 6 Clayton Valley 7, No. 14 Acalanes 2

Clayton Valley broke a 2-2 tie with a fiverun fourth inning to beat Acalanes in a Diablo Athletic League Foothill Division game.

Aiden Romero had a two-run homer and Jordan Bolden struck out eight in three innings.

No. 10 College Park 14, Miramonte 0 (5 innings)

College Park's Michael Barnett, Zach Vasell and Lucas Davel combined for 14 strikeouts and limited host Miramonte to four hits in a DAL Foothill win.

Pittsburg 9, Freedom 7

In a Bay Valley Athletic League tournament championsh­ip rematch from last year, Pittsburg scored six runs in the fifth and sixth innings to erase a four-run deficit and beat host Freedom.

Khamani Blakney and Victor Valle each had two RBIs for Pittsburg.

Coach Marco Cartagena won his 97th game with the Pirates, making him the winningest coach in program history.

SOFTBALL Livermore tops Granada for title

In the rubber match between crosstown rivals, Livermore's Taylor Rodriguez led the Cowboys to a 2-0 victory over Granada in the East Bay Athletic League title game.

Rodriguez, who is committed to Dominican University, pitched a four-hitter, struck out nine and hit a solo home run.

The Cowboys improved to 23-3-1 overall and captured their first EBAL title since 2009.

No. 5 Heritage 4, Freedom 3

Regular-season Bay Valley Athletic League champion Heritage beat visiting Freedom 4-3 in the league tournament championsh­ip.

Taci Haase drove in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning.

No. 6 Benicia 6, Alhambra 3

For the second time this week, Hailey Weddington had a three-RBI game as visiting Benicia beat Alhambra in DAL Foothill play.

Braxton Brown struck out seven, Lorenzza Marcacci drove in a run and Robynn Balmediano had a three-hit game for Benicia (18-6, 11-1).

No. 16 College Park 6, Concord 0

Linsey Blackman's one-hitter keyed College Park's DAL Foothill shutout over Concord.

No. 17 Willow Glen 11, Oak Grove 1 (6 innings)

Faamaai Ulu had three RBIs as Willow Glen won its 19th consecutiv­e game and went undefeated in Blossom Valley Athletic League Santa Teresa Division play.

NCS CHAMPIONSH­IPS Lacrosse

Boys Division I: Luke Dermon, the quarterbac­k on De La Salle's football team, scored three goals to lead the top-seeded Spartans to a 14-3 rout of California.

Girls Division I: Second-seeded San Ramon Valley's bid for its third NCS title fell short as top seed Redwood prevailed 14-12. Girls Division II: Top seed Campolindo, aiming for its second NCS crown, lost at home to No. 2 seed Marin Academy 6-4.

Boys volleyball

Division I: Top-seeded College Park outlasted second-seeded Amador Valley 2826, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21for the NCS title.

Division II: Top-seeded Campolindo cruised past De La Salle 3-0to capture the NCS crown.

Division III: No. 1 seed Bishop O'Dowd rolled past No. 2seed Moreau Catholic 2514, 27-25, 25-16for its first NCS title.

In Division IV: No. 3 seed College Prep outlasted No. 4seed Berean Christian 20-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13 for the title.
