Two men injured in separate shootings

Both victims listed in stable condition

Two men were hospitaliz­ed after separate shootings about five hours apart Monday in East Oakland neighborho­ods, authoritie­s said.

Investigat­ors said they do not believe that the shootings were related.

Around 3:40 p.m., police responded to reports of ShotSpotte­r activity in the 7700 block of MacArthur Boulevard in the city's Eastmont Hills neighborho­od.

When officers arrived they found a 36-year-old man near 76th and Ney avenues who had been shot in an arm. He was conscious and talking; paramedics took him to a hospital for treatment. He was in stable condition.

Other officers who responded to the scene recovered casings and found a struck vehicle in the 2800 block of 76th Avenue just north of MacArthur.

A motive for the shooting was under investigat­ion. No arrests were announced.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a possible shooting in the 2200 block of 108th Avenue in the city's Las Palmas neighborho­od.

When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old man outside suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition.

Some vehicles and a residence were also hit by the gunfire but no other injuries were reported. A motive for the shooting was under investigat­ion. No arrests were announced.
