Two men injured in separate shootings
Both victims listed in stable condition
Two men were hospitalized after separate shootings about five hours apart Monday in East Oakland neighborhoods, authorities said.
Investigators said they do not believe that the shootings were related.
Around 3:40 p.m., police responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity in the 7700 block of MacArthur Boulevard in the city's Eastmont Hills neighborhood.
When officers arrived they found a 36-year-old man near 76th and Ney avenues who had been shot in an arm. He was conscious and talking; paramedics took him to a hospital for treatment. He was in stable condition.
Other officers who responded to the scene recovered casings and found a struck vehicle in the 2800 block of 76th Avenue just north of MacArthur.
A motive for the shooting was under investigation. No arrests were announced.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a possible shooting in the 2200 block of 108th Avenue in the city's Las Palmas neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old man outside suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition.
Some vehicles and a residence were also hit by the gunfire but no other injuries were reported. A motive for the shooting was under investigation. No arrests were announced.
