Judge's HR in 10th wins it for Yankees

-

Aaron Judge drove a three-run homer in the 10th inning off Seth Martinez for his second game-ending hit against the Astros in four days, and the New York Yankees recovered after nearly being no-hit for the second consecutive game to beat Houston 6-3 on Sunday.

Giancarlo Stanton ended a hitless drought for New York with a one-out homer in the seventh inning, and DJ LeMahieu delivered a tying two-run drive in the eighth.

Just like on Thursday, when he broke a 6-all tie with a single in the ninth, Judge lifted the major league-leading Yankees. His rocket to left-center landed in the visiting bullpen.

José Urquidy was eight outs from Houston's second straight no-hitter before Stanton connected, cutting the Astros' lead to 3-1. The Yankees had been 0 for 52 since the eighth inning of a 3-1 loss Friday night — a stretch including a combined no-hitter by Cristian Javier, Héctor Neris and Ryan Pressly on Saturday.

PHILLIES 8, PADRES 5 >> Kyle Schwarber hit a goahead, three-run home run in the seventh and Philadelphia rallied to beat host San Diego.

The Padres' Yu Darvish left with a 5-3 lead after striking out nine in six innings.

RED SOX 8, GUARDIANS 3 >> Trevor Story drove in two runs, Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinez each had three hits and visiting Boston topped Cleveland for a three-game road sweep that extended its winning streak to seven.

BREWERS 10, BLUE JAYS 3 >> Rowdy Tellez hit a pair of two-run homers against his former team, leading Milwaukee over visiting Toronto.

CUBS 6, CARDINALS 5, 10 INNINGS >> Willson Contreras hit a tiebreaking single in the 10th to drive in his third run of the game, and Chicago overcame a five-run deficit to win at St. Louis.

MARLINS 3, METS 2 >> Rookie Nick Fortes hit a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and Miami defeated New York.

PHILLIES' HARPER OUT WITH BROKEN THUMB >> Reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper was placed on the 10-day injured list with a broken left thumb and the Philadelphia Phillies haven't yet announced a timeline for his return.

Harper's thumb was broken when he was hit by a 97 mph pitch from San Diego Padres left-hander Blake Snell on Saturday night.

Harper is hitting .318 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs.
