Undercover officer bought drugs from him in San Francisco
A federal judge sentenced an Oakland man to four years in prison for distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Tenderloin District, authorities said.
U.S. Senior District Judge Charles R. Breyer sentenced Dixis Archaga-Reyes, 27, on Wednesday. Archaga-Reyes pleaded guilty Sept. 21, 2022, to four counts of distributing the drugs, according to a statement from Stephanie Hinds, the U.S. attorney for the Northern
District of California.
Authorities said a federal grand jury indicted Archaga-Reyes on two counts of possession with intent to distribute and the distribution of more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, and two counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of at least 40 grams of fentanyl.
In the plea agreement, Archaga-Reyes acknowledged selling or attempting to sell drugs to an undercover task force officer on two occasions, Hinds said.
The officer was working for the San Francisco Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
According to Hinds, Archaga-Reyes in the plea agreement said that through text messages on Dec. 22, 2021, he agreed to sell the officer two ounces of fentanyl for $1,000 and two ounces of methamphetamine for $500. He agreed with the officer to conduct the transaction near the intersection of Seventh and Mission Streets and met with the officer that evening on Seventh Street, just north of Minna Alley, Hinds said.
At that meeting, Archaga-Reyes got into the passenger side of the vehicle while the undercover officer drove and received $1,500 cash from the officer, Hinds said. She added that Archaga-Reyes next handed the officer clear plastic bags with about 6.1 grams of fentanyl and 59 grams of methamphetamine.
Hinds said that Archaga-Reyes coordinated with the same officer again Feb. 17, 2022, contacting him by text at 1:42 p.m. that he was on his way to the same location to make the transaction. As Archaga-Reyes exited his Oakland apartment, officers arrested him.
In the plea agreement, Archaga-Reyes acknowledged he had a plastic bag with 500 grams of methamphetamine with him when he left his apartment, Hinds said. Agents later found 90.5 grams of fentanyl in his car, as well as more than 130 grams of fentanyl and more than 37 grams of cocaine in his apartment. They also seized $2,760 in cash that was proceeds from drug sales, she said.
