1 man killed, 3 others are wounded in 4 shootings
One man was killed and three other men were wounded in four Oakland shootings that occurred from Tuesday afternoon to early Wednesday, authorities said.
None of the four shootings is believed to be connected, authorities said.
The fatal shooting happened about 12:46 a.m. Wednesday in the 5700 block of International Boulevard in East Oakland.
Police responding to a gunshot detection system alert found shell casings and other evidence of a shooting, but no victim.
It turned out the victim, a man believed to be in his 20s, was driven from the scene by someone who dropped him off on a street near Highland Hospital. The unconscious man was taken inside the hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 2:46 a.m. authorities said.
A motive for the shooting was not immediately determined and no arrests were announced.
The killing is the 95th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time, police had investigated 96 homicides in the city.
About 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, a 31-year-old man was shot in the chest in the 7900 block of International Boulevard, authorities said.
The man told police he was outside when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot. He was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition. Police still were investigating a possible motive for the shooting and were trying to determine if the man was the intended target. No arrests were announced.
About 10:29 p.m. Tuesday, a 34-year-old man was shot in the torso in the 8900 block of MacArthur Boulevard.
The man told police he was standing outside when he heard gunfire and realized he had been shot. He got a ride to a hospital from another person and was in stable condition.
Police still were investigating a possible motive for the shooting and were trying to determine if the man was the intended target. No arrests were announced.
About 1:39 p.m. Tuesday, a 25-year-old man was shot in the mouth in the area of a homeless camp in the 600 block of 25th Street near downtown.
Authorities said the man apparently got into a dispute with someone at the camp and was shot. Police don't believe the wounded man lived at the camp.
He got his own transportation to a hospital and was in stable condition. No arrests were announced.
