PLEASANTON >> One of three women killed in a solo-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 680 was identified by the coroner's office Wednesday.

Josefa A. Chagolla, 62, of Sacramento was killed in the crash, officials said. The names of the other two women killed were not released Tuesday morning.

Five other occupants of the car that crashed, a 2004 Honda Pilot SUV, were hospitalized at different area hospitals with various injuries, the California Highway Patrol said. Two young children were among those five people. The conditions of those injured were not available Wednesday.

Authorities have not yet said if the eight occupants of the SUV were related or where they were going.

The crash happened about 2:35 p.m. Monday on southbound I-680 at the Sunol Boulevard off-ramp.

The CHP said the man driving the Honda told investigators he was going about 65 mph when there was a blowout to the right rear tire. The vehicle veered to the left, hit a wall and then veered back to the right, crossing all traffic lanes before becoming airborne and hitting a tree along the right shoulder. The two women killed who have not yet been identified died at the scene. The CHP said neither was wearing a seat belt.

Chagolla, who was a passenger in a rear seat, died later at a hospital, authorities said. It still has not been determined if she was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

The CHP has said alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash.

The CHP investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the crash may call the CHP Dublin office at 925-828-0466.
