Martinez man accepts 31-year sentence

A 21-year-old local resident has agreed to serve the next 31 years behind bars for killing a DoorDash driver in 2021, as part of a plea agreement with Contra Costa prosecutors, authorities said.

Dylan Baker, of Martinez, was just 18 when he shot and killed 25-yearold Concord resident Stacy Corley, in what police called a road rage shooting. Now, Baker has pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and use of a firearm in exchange for a prison term of 31 years and four months, authorities said.

Corley was shot and killed around 11 p.m. June 17, 2021, near North California Boulevard and Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek. He had just picked up food from a pizza parlor when he got into an argument with someone in an SUV, which contained Baker and several friends, court records show.

Multiple people in the SUV with Baker would later tell police that Corley rolled down his window and raised his middle finger at someone in Baker's SUV, and that

Baker responded by opening fire with a pistol. Later that night, Baker allegedly laughed about the shooting, telling someone “I think I emptied my clip” and saying that he used hollow point bullets.

Baker turned himself in days after the shooting after police released pictures of him to the public. He was identified after police identified the license plates on the SUV and interviewed eyewitnesses. Some of them cooperated with investigators, while others claimed that they weren't paying attention or didn't see anything, according to investigators.
