Dragons upend Bucks

CROSSETT - Smackover played a pair of games Saturday at the Crossett Tournament.

The Buckaroos lost their opener to Junction City.

In this Union County clash, the Dragons topped Smackover 7-6.

Heading into the bottom half of the sixth, Junction City trailed 6-1.

But, the Dragons scored six runs to claim a 1-run lead which Smackover was unable to overcome.

Smackover scored two runs apiece in the second, third, and fourth innings. At the plate for the Buckaroos, Logan Clark had two hits and 4 RBI. Daniel Hughes hit a 2-run homer. Kaine McKnight and Brennan McKnight had two hits apiece. Beau Burson had one hit.

For Junction City, Joe Lowe and Keegan Hanry both had one hit. Meanwhile, Cameron Cupp finished with a hit and one RBI. Blake McLelland and Will Smith had one hit and two RBI.

Junction City’s winning pitcher was Cupp who was on the mound for two innings, walking two, striking out two batters, and giving up one hit. Colton Sellers pitched three innings surrenderi­ng four runs, four hits, while striking out one batter. Smith pitched two innings, giving up two runs, three hits, walking one, and striking out two.

For the Buckaroos, Clark pitched two innings and amassed five strikeouts. Tripp Evans pitched two innings. Burson gave up four runs, two hits, three walks, and struck out two in 1 1/3 inning. Dylan Darden faced two batters and gave up two walks. Hughes pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one batter and giving up two hits.

In its final game of the day, Smackover topped the Crossett Eagles by six runs.

In its contest against the Eagles, Smackover never trailed as it grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Bucks scored three runs in the top of the third to increase their advantage to 4-0. But, Crossett answered in the bottom of the inning scoring one run. During the fourth, the Buckaroos tacked on three runs. In the fifth, Crossett scored once making the score 7-2.
