Smackover football team raising money
In support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Smackover Buckaroos football team has joined Touchdowns Against Cancer.
Fans are invited to pledge a donation for every touchdown Smackover scores from September 15 to October 1. Every touchdown scored by the Buckaroos will directly benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Smackover baseball to present golf tourney
Smackover's baseball team will be hosting the Buckaroo Scramble on October 8 at Pine Hills Country Club. The event will raise money for Smackover's trip to Florida over spring break next year.
The format is a four-man scramble and the cost to enter is $150 per team.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. and the top three places will be awarded cash prizes. Lunch will also be included, but the team that finishes last will be rewarded with a steak lunch.

Minnesota working on Garnett buyout
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that the Minnesota Timberwolves are working on a buyout with Kevin Garnett.
The two sides have been engaged in talks for some time. When completed it will assure that Garnett will not return to the Wolves' roster next season. The person spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because a deal has not been completed.
